Recent Press Release for recent exhibition Effuse, written by Altair Roelants
Claudia Moseleys ongoing investigation which utilises the potentials of the photographic medium (documentation/exaggeration) and light, for probing, understanding and capturing the intricacies and beauty of the natural world and the dilemmas of our relationship with natural cycles. For the Effuse exhibition the artist has created the photo montage Echo,Eco (2008), which captures a lunar eclipse, and brings it full circle in an attempt to expose the pure essence of an echo. The term echo constitutes both a metaphor and a practical trace for the reverberation and repetition that ecology and culture instigate in their opposite but mingling spheres. The images within the piece are concentrated, manipulated and merged with the fragile patterns of the veins of leaves. This process explores the perception and resonance of such astrological events on earth. Encapsulated by shadow and light, this resonance, entices the viewer to contemplate their own position within this economy of exchange, as the artist attempts to balance the aesthetic, as well as the conceptual, potentials of art.
